In Memory Of Clyde Curtis Kitchens

Clyde Curtis Kitchens, age 89, of Red Oak, Oklahoma passed from this earth, Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in Antlers, Oklahoma.

Clyde was born in Leflore, Oklahoma on October 14, 1928, a son of the late Laura Beatrice (Abernathy) and Thomas Fred Kitchens.

Clyde grew up in Leflore, Oklahoma in a large family of nine boys and one sister.  He graduated from Leflore High School, attended Eastern Oklahoma State College, and graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1949.  He continued his education in California, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State Universities and completed his Masters degree from SOSU.  He was a proud Southeastern alumnus and always wore his Savage Blue and Gold.

Clyde was a longtime educator who began his career in 1949 in Red Oak, Oklahoma as Junior High principal and basketball coach.  He worked under the mentorship of E. T. Dunlap and Charles Collins and worked with many fine educators across the state.  He was principal and Red Oak girls coach until 1974, before becoming Superintendent at Panola, Oklahoma and then Crowder Public Schools.  He continued his service to public education as an Accreditation Officer for the State Department of Education, retiring in 1986, ending a thirty-six year career.  He was actively involved in his community and was a Sunday school teacher and member of the First Baptist Church, Red Oak.  He served as an Assistant Scout leader, was a member of the local Lions Club, Latimer County Sportsmens Club, and many professional education organizations.  He was a member of the Latimer County Excise Board and through the years had served on several state advisory boards.  He was a Red Oak City Trustee and worked to see the development of the city water and sewer systems, volunteer fire department, City clinic, City Library, and Community Center.

Clyde loved family reunions and family history.  He spent many years crawling through courthouses and libraries all across the country in search of the family roots.  Family history was his passion and sharing his discoveries at family reunions was his joy.  The Kitchens Family Reunion was one of his favorite days of the year.  He loved seeing his family.

Clyde was the husband of Beulah Mae (Muse) Kitchens. On May 23, 1951, they were married at Red Oak, Oklahoma.

Daughters/Sons-In-Law:   Juanita & Robert Tucker, of Antlers, Oklahoma; Joquita & Ed Klink, of Krebs, Oklahoma.
Sons/Daughters-In-Law:  Curtis & Renee Kitchens, of Durant, Oklahoma; Edward & Destini Kitchens, of Red Oak, Oklahoma.
Sister:  Mary Alice Christine McElroy, of Wenatchie, Washington.
Brothers:  Kenneth Edward Kitchens, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; Carrol Martin Kitchens, of Newport News, Virginia.
 
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Fred Kitchens and Laura Beatrice Abernathy Kitchens, brothers William Coleman Kitchens, Thomas Fred Kitchens, Jr., Charles Dawes Kitchens, Neil Rogers Kitchens, Johnny Glenn Kitchens, James Douglas Kitchens, daughter Jacqueline Kitchens Rainwater, and grandson Garrett Pahlon.

He is also survived by Grandchildren: Misty Tucker Parrington, Jennifer Tucker Brame, Ashley Klink Eckert, Jason Klink, Ty C. Kitchens, Kyle C. Kitchens, Kacie Kitchens Coffey, Kourtney Kitchens Montgomery, Colton Potter, Bradon Potter, Bryar Potter and numerous Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many cousins and friends.

Service at First Baptist Church, Red Oak, Oklahoma, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018  with Rev. Johnny Montgomery officiating.  Interment to follow at the Red Oak Cemetery, Red, Oak, OK.

Barley Lee Foster, III, age 58, of Wilburton, OK, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Barley was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on December 31, 1959, a son of Norma (Danel) Foster and the late Barley Foster, Jr.

Barley worked in the oil field.  He was of the Methodist faith.

He was the husband of Mary Catherine (England) Foster. On March 16, 1977, they were married at Poteau, Oklahoma.

Barley is  also survived by:
Wife:  Cathy Foster, of the home.
Mother:  Norma Foster, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.
Daughter:   Amy Bazain, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Son/Daughter-In-Law:  ,Barley Foster, IV, husband of  Rebecca, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.
He is also survived by 8 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild.

Barley was preceded in death by his father, son Michael, grandparents Bill & Donna Booth, Barley & Gladys Foster.

Eunice Mae Small Riggs, age 77, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Eunice was born in Wilburton, Oklahoma on December 9, 1940, a daughter of the late Nora (Wilson) and Doyal Gaines Small.

She worked as a billing clerk for Latimer County Home Health.

Eunice is  survived by:
Daughter:  Katherine J.  Wade, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.
Sons:  Robert E. Wade, of Wilburton, Oklahoma; Roger L. Wade, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.
Sister:   Linda Ellison, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

William Dewey Tomlinson, age 69, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at St. Johns Med. Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

William was born in Wilburton, Oklahoma on April 11, 1948, a son of the late Urcie (Watkins) and William  Tomlinson.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was the husband of Sandy  (Sutmiller) Tomlinson. On November 17, 1981, they were married at Wilburton, Oklahoma.

William is  survived by:
Wife:  Sandy Tomlinson, of the home.
Daughters/Son-In-Law:   April Tomlinson, of Wilburton, Oklahoma;  Krystal Tomlinson, of Wilburton, Oklahoma; Shelley & Adrian Zimmer, of Soldotna, Alaska.
Granddaughter:  Kylie Lalli, of the home.

Tommy Earl Bristow, age 70, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at his residence.

Tommy was born in McAlester, Oklahoma on June 26, 1947, a son of the late Daisy (Wilcox) and Walter Ross Bristow.

Tommy worked as a welder.  He served in the U.S. Navy.

He was the husband of Kelly  (Denton) Bristow. On July 12, 1990, they were married at Holbrook, Arizona.

Tommy is  survived by:
Wife: Kelly Bristow, of the home.
Sons: Travis Bristow, of Spokane, Washington; Condly Bristow, of Wilburton, Oklahoma; Kyle Bristow, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Charlie (Choo-Choo) Rice, age 86, of Talihina, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at McAlester, Oklahoma.

Charlie was born in Wilburton, Oklahoma on October 22, 1931, a son of the late Anna (Ruseckis) and George  Rice.

He worked as a general laborer for Latimer County.  He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Charlie is  survived by:
Sons:  Darryl Rice & Roger Rice, both of El Reno, Oklahoma.
Sister:  Francis Kelley, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.
Niece:  Eva Coleman, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.
6 Grandchildren.

Dr. Grover F. Reynolds, age 87, of Red Oak, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017.

Dr. Reynolds was born in Bokchito, Oklahoma on January 11, 1930, a son of the late Fannie (Horn) and Fred  Reynolds.

Dr. Reynolds worked as a chiropractor.  He attended Beth-el Baptist Church, in Red Oak, Oklahoma.  He was a deacon of the Beth-el Baptist Church.   

Dr. Reynolds served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.  He was the widower of Lillie Mae (Smith) Reynolds.

Dr. Reynolds is survived by:
Sister:  Marietta Allan, of Colbert, Oklahoma.
Brother/Sister-In-Law:   George & Ruthie Reynolds, of Bennington, Oklahoma.
Special Friend:  Lonnie Taylor, of Red Oak, Oklahoma.

Rickey was born in Wilburton, Oklahoma on November 21, 1960, a son of Donald Clark and the late Imogene (Tomlinson) Clark.

Rickey worked as a Nurses Aid in the health care industry.  He was of the Baptist faith.
