Shirley Ruth Vester, age 82, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at her residence in Wilburton, Oklahoma. 

Shirley was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma on October 18, 1934, a daughter of the late Jennie (Litson) and Chester  McCammon.

Shirley was a wonderful and dedicated  homemaker.

Shirley was a member of First Baptist Church, of  Wilburton, Oklahoma.  Shirley played the piano faithfully for many years at FBC of Wilburton.   

She was the wife of J. C. Vester. On March 9, 1955, they were married at Shawnee, Oklahoma. 

Shirley is  survived by:
Husband: J. C. Vester, of the home.
Daughter:  Cathye Vester, of Midwest City, Oklahoma.
Daughter-In-Law:  Kathy Vester, of McAlester, Oklahoma.
Sister/Brother-In-Law:  Connie & Kenneth Zorger, of Norman, Oklahoma. 
She is also survived by  Grandson: Justin, husband of Natia Vester, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.  
Great Grandson:  Jaxon Vester, of Wilburton, Oklahoma. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Vester; sister, Naoma Bauman.

Service at First Baptist Church, Wilburton, Oklahoma, at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017  with Dr. Paul Brady and Rev. Doug Miller officiating.  Interment to follow at the Wilburton Memorial Gardens Cemetery, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Rosy Bertice Bond, age 81, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at her residence in Tulsa.

Rosy was born in Wickes, Arkansas on November 26, 1935, a daughter of the late Oliner (Selvidge) and Fred  Richardson.

Rosy was a  homemaker.  She was a member of the Honor Heights Assembly of God Church, of  Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Darin was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on July 22, 1967.

He worked as a Reserve Deputy for the Latimer County Sheriff.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Red Oak, Oklahoma.

Danny Roy Cooley, age 60, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016   at the OU Medical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 

Danny was born in Visalia, California on December 3, 1956, a son of the late Catherine O. Gillespie and Jimmy Roy Cooley.

Danny worked as a truck driver.

He was the husband of Judy  (Brinkley) Cooley. On October 7, 1977, they were married in Texas.

Leon Judd

In Memory Of Leon Judd

Leon Judd, age 84, of Red Oak, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at his residence in Red Oak, Oklahoma

Leon was born in Hollis, Oklahoma on June 15, 1932, a son of the late Wanda (Addis) and Orvil Lee Judd.

He was the husband of Loretta  (Bales) Judd. On March 17, 1955, they were married at Wilburton, Oklahoma.  He worked in the oil field as a manager.  Leon was an ordained minister.  He attended the Solnia Free Will Baptist Church.   

He served in the U.S. Army. 

Leon is  survived by:
Wife:  Loretta Judd, of the home. 
Daughter/Son-In-Law:  Debbie Judd' Sims, wife of  Rick, of Red Oak, Oklahoma.
Sisters/Brothers-In-Law:  Jean Foreman, of Shattuck, Oklahoma; Barbara & Lawrence Blassingame, of Cairo, Nebraska; Della Lawson, of Canadian, Texas; Wanda & Bob Getz, of Beaver, Oklahoma.

Charlie Leroy Prock

In Memory of  Charlie Leroy Prock

Charlie Leroy Prock, age 79, of Ada, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at the Mercy Hospital, of Ada Oklahoma. 

Charlie was born in Red Oak, Oklahoma on May 19, 1937, a son of the late Ruby (Booth) and John  Prock.  He  graduated Red Oak High School in 1955 and enlisted in the Army in the fall.  He served for three years with a major portion if his service being in Germany.

He married the love of his life, Loretta Clark, May 26, 1960 in Red Oak, Oklahoma.  They resided in Oklahoma City and Ardmore until they moved to Ada in 1974.  He opened an electrical supply store in Ada and continued in electrical supply business until his retirement.

He was a member of the Kiwanis Club where he served as an officer and was named Kiwanian of The Year in 1980.  He retired early due to health issues, but continued to follow the activities of the community.

He enjoyed sharing stories about family and especially after becoming a grandfather.  Two words that were music to his ears were "Daddy" and "Grandpa".

Charlie is  survived by:
Wife:  Loretta Prock, of the home. 
One Daughter, Debra, of Atlanta, Georgia. 
Two Sisters/Brothers-In-Law:  Mildred & Lynn Rice, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; Linda &  John Medlock, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Three Brothers/Sisters-In-Law:  James & Vergie Prock, of Red Oak, Oklahoma; Cecil Prock, of Red Oak, Oklahoma; Kenneth &  Donna Prock, of McAlester, Oklahoma. 
He is also survived by Grandson:  Jacob, of Atlanta, Georgia.  
Along with numerous nieces and nephews. He considered his wife's family as his own and was considered to be a big brother by the same family.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, John & Ruby Prock; one brother, Lonnie Prock.

Service at First Assembly of God Church, Red Oak, Oklahoma, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016  with Rev. Randy Holmes and Rev. Willard Francis officiating.  Interment to follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Billy Jo Crouch, age 85, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at the Tidwell Living Center of Wilburton, Oklahoma 

Billy was born in Wilburton, Oklahoma on April 5, 1931, a son of the late Viola (Glenn) and Roy  Crouch.

He worked in the construction field.  Billy served in the U.S. Army.

He was the widower of Cynthia  Crouch.

Billy is  survived by:
Daughters/Sons-In-Law:  Amanda & Chad Littlejohn, of Wilburton, Oklahoma; Krystal Gresham, of Shafter, California; Tysee Crouch, of McAlester, Oklahoma.

He is also survived by 10 Grandchildren, some great grandchildren.

Dortha Lee Albright Tucker

Dortha Lee Albright Tucker

Dortha Lee Albright was born April 10, 1919 to her parents Clarence Lee and Lora Lee Toliver Albright in Wiley, Colorado.  Her father was killed in an oil field explosion when she was five years old.  Her mother remarried to Walt Lomenick, three years later.  She had two younger brothers, Loren Clarence and Stephen Wesley, and a half-sister, Lora Jean, all of which preceded her in death.

Dortha Lee grew up on a farm in Kiowa County and married Kensel Tucker on October 6, 1936 in Anadarko, Oklahoma.  They had grown up together as their home places were less than a mile apart.  Kensel worked with his dad on his farm and eventually they were able to build their own home on their own section of land.  Dortha Lee cooked for the farm hands while taking care of her chickens and often milking their cows.  She, also, picked cotton, measured land, helped with the plowing and took care of her children Nancy, Keith, and Jennifer.
In 1949, they purchased the ranch ten miles southwest of Wilburton from an aunt of Kensel’s who owned the land and was living there when he was born in 1913.  Their property was sold in Kiowa County and the family moved to Wilburton.  The family became members of the First Methodist Church.  Dortha Lee was used to working hard and soon become involved in teaching Sunday School and church activities.  She was active in the PTA and Farm Bureau.  She began working in the Insurance and Real Estate business Kensel had started.  She made nearly all of the clothes for herself and her two daughters.  When Kensel agreed to run the drive-in movie, she took charge of the bookkeeping.

In 1959, she enrolled at Eastern Oklahoma State College after he first grandson was born.  Their six grandsons were born within four years.  When her daughter-in-law was expecting, she told Dortha Lee that she didn’t seem to excited about her being pregnant.  Dortha Lee’s reponse was, ‘it’s just not too easy to get excited right now.’  Dortha Lee received her Associates Degree from Eastern in 1962, with a 4 point grade average.

Once their children were grown and away from home, they built a house at the ranch in 1966.  They lived there 17 years.  She signed up for art classes and found she had a real talent for painting.  She has always crocheted, but also learned to knit.  She enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her flowers.  She joined a bird watching group, became involved with AARP, the Latimer County Library, and organized the “Beautify Wilburton” committee.  She was a charter board member of the EOSC Alumni and on the board for the Eastern Oklahoma State College Development Foundation.  She and Kensel established the Kensel and Dortha Lee Tucker Scholarship fund at Eastern.  She was a candidate for the Wilburton Centennial Queen Contest, sponsored by the Wilburton BPW Club.  She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  Dortha Lee was a survivor of breast cancer two times; the first in 1976 and then again in 2008.

The Tuckers purchased a motor home in 1977 and traveled through 49 states; they couldn’t drive to Hawaii.  Dortha Lee was able to convince Kensel to ride to the bottom of the Grand Canyon on the mule ride tour.  They saw many beautiful sights and made a lot of new friends.
Kensel was living in the nursing home in 2006 when Dortha Lee moved in with her daughter, Nancy, who had recently been widowed.  After she gave up housekeeping, she gave the contents of her house and her jewelry to her children and grandchildren.  She often said, “Do your givin’ while your livin’, then you’ll be knowin’ where its goin’.  Kensel died March 9, 2007.
She moved to the Latimer Nursing home in 2011.  She settled in very well and was always content and happy.  The staff took very good care of her and kept her up to date on current events.  She spent much of her time reading.  Dortha Lee told her three children just a few weeks ago that she was content and happy at the nursing home and she didn’t want to go anywhere else, ever again.  She didn’t want to go to the hospital, the doctor, or dentist, or to their homes.  She just wanted to stay there, that was her home.

Dortha Lee passed away November 27, 2016 at the Latimer Nursing Home in Wilburton, OK.  She and Kensel set perfect examples for their children, grandchildren and all future generations to follow.  Her survivors include children: Nancy Lee and her husband, Jim McCallie of Eufaula; Merle Keith and his wife, Carla Jo Tucker of Lafayette, LA; and Jennifer Lynn and her husband Ronald Richard Tarrant of Wilburton.  Also, seven grandchildren: Clifford Dale and wife Jeana Downing and Lloyd Blake Downing of Wilburton, Bryan Alan and his wife Phyllis Downing of Pocola, Robert Lewis and Rodger Mark Pate of McAlester, Rickey Lyle Pate of Wilburton and Crystal Lee and her husband, Wilton Louis (Joey) Credeur of Lafayette, LA.  She has nine great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Vesta Wooten

Vesta Wooten, age 86, of Hartshorne, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the  Beare Manor Nursing Home, of Hartshorne, Oklahoma. 

Vesta was born in Bengal, Oklahoma on September 13, 1930, a daughter of the late Cecil (Crims) and Harrison  Blankenship.

She was a homemaker.

She was the widow of James  Wooten, who passed away on December 8, 2004. On May 12, 1950, 
James and Vesta were married at Van Buren, Arkansas. 

Vesta is  survived by
Daughters/Sons-In-Law:  Ella &  Randall Edmondson, of Kenai, Alaska; Sue Chester, of Wilburton, Oklahoma; Judy & Leroy Dill, of Wilburton, Oklahoma.
Sisters/Brothers-In-Law:  Drotha &  Bob Aldridge, of Sacramento, California; Dorothy & Don Wright, of Ramona, Oklahoma. 
Brother/Sister-In-Law:  HD &  Norma Blankenship, of Red Oak, Oklahoma. 
Sisters-In-Law:  Laverne Blankenship, of Red Oak, Oklahoma; Margie Blankenship, of Marshall, Texas.
Several nieces and nephews.  
She is also survived by 8 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren.

Vesta was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Ricky Wooten; three brothers; grandson, Keith Dill.

Michael was born in Wilburton, Oklahoma on December 5, 1949, a son of the late Wilma (Cathy) and Leo Charles Barry.

He worked in the oil & gas field.

Michael was the husband of Beth (Bambeck)  Barry. On May 24, 1973, they were married at Wilburton, Oklahoma.
