J.E. “Jay” Gregg was born on November 11, 1958, in Hugoton, Kansas, to J.E. Gregg and Donna V. Gregg. He passed away on February 7, 2026, in McAlester, Oklahoma, at the age of 67.
Jay grew up in Wilburton, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Wilburton High School. Following high school, he began working in the oilfield in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Through dedication and hard work, Jay advanced to become an oilfield consultant, a career he pursued successfully for many years until his retirement.
His work allowed him to travel extensively, giving him the opportunity to see the world. Jay worked in Africa, Russia, Sweden, and many other locations. He was known for his strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment, earning the respect of those he worked alongside.
Jay deeply loved his family. He was preceded in death by his father, J.E. Gregg; his mother, Donna V. Gregg; and his sister, Marsha Cooper. He is survived by his sister, Kathy Warren of Wilburton, Oklahoma; his brother-in-law, Jerry Warren; and several nieces and nephews whom he cherished.
In 2024, Jay returned to his hometown of Wilburton to be closer to his family. During this time, he attended The River Church in Wilburton and devoted his life to Jesus. While Jay will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, his family and friends find comfort in the eternal hope found through Jesus Christ.
A memorial service for Jay will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Center Point Cemetery with Pastor Joewoody Johnson officiating.
A family viewing will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Waldrop Funeral Home, followed by a friends viewing from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
